Louisiana Revenges Earlier Loss

Monroe, Louisiana soundly defeated Brunswick County 18-5 tonight in the semi-finals of the Dixie Boys World Series. Brunswick County had defeated Louisiana 8-3 earlier in the tournament.  The games played at Harkrader Sports Complex in Christiansburg, Virginia.

Louisiana plated seven runs in the top of the first inning and scored eight more in the fourth inning in the game that was halted after five innings due to the ten run rule. They pounded out 18 hits while Brunswick County  managed just four.. Louisiana’s Cade Harper blasted a pair of homeruns, his fourth and fifth of the series.

The loss forced a three team playoff for the championship. In a blind draw, Laurel Jones, Mississippi earned a by into the championship game as North Carolina and Louisiana will meet at 5:00 to determine the opponent that will face Mississippi.

Tyler Barnes started on the mound for Brunswick County, but was unable to get past the first inning as he allowed six runs, before giving way to Erick Hill. Patrick Whipple picked up the win for Louisiana.

Jared Strange, Michael Moss, and Dustin Darguzas had first inning hits for Brunswick County. Tyler Barnes singled in the fourth inning, for the other Brunswick County hit.
