The Local News Review will be featuring a Football Player of the Week during this year’s football season, sponsored by Franklin Rouse with State Farm Insurance of Leland.
The Player of the Week this week is Chris Hamilton, a senior quarterback who led North Brunswick to a 43-40 victory in the opening week against West Carteret Patriots August 20.
Hamilton, running a new offense the Scorpion coaches implemented this season passed for 194 yards with a pair of touchdowns, and ran for 37 yards and another touchdown. His final touchdown toss to Tyler Burton was the game winner on a 29 yard strike with just 42 seconds left on the clock to propel the Scorpions to the win.
Hamilton guided the Scorpions to nearly 450 yards of offense while operating the new spread offense that North Brunswick is now running.
Hamilton said he and his teammates had put a lot of work on the new offense, but with all the weapons the Scorpions have on offense it should be successful.
“I love this new offense,” Hamilton said. “There’s a lot of options. I can run it. I can throw it. I can pitch it. It was working for us tonight really well for our first time using it. The line was perfect. You can’t ask for nothing better.”
